great passage about faith in chapter 11. There is the wonderful blessing at the end, which we often use, the one about ‘the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep’. But the way Christians use these passages is rather like putting in the thumb and pulling out a couple of obvious plumbs. There comes a time for seeing what the rest of the pie is made of as well. The second reason the book is felt difficult is that it concentrates on animal sacrifice.
